The short version. Affiliaters Deal Converter turns a retail product link into your own affiliate link and a ready-to-share deal message. It works on your device and only sends the data a conversion needs to the Affiliaters service. We do not sell your data, we do not use advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not collect your browsing history.
This policy applies to the Affiliaters Deal Converter extension on the Chrome Web Store (Chrome / Edge / Chromium) and the Apple App Store (Safari for iOS, iPadOS and macOS). The Affiliaters website and dashboard are covered by our main privacy policy.
Affiliaters is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or otherwise connected to Flipkart, Amazon, Myntra, Croma, Shopsy or any other retailer or affiliate network. Retailer names are used only to state which websites the extension works on. All product names, logos and trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
1. Who we are
The extension is operated by Affiliaters ("we", "us", "our"). It is a companion to your Affiliaters account (sign in at app.affiliaters.in). For any privacy question, write to support@affiliaters.in.
2. What the extension does
The extension is a tool you actively use on supported shopping sites. Its functions are:
- Link conversion. On supported retail product pages — currently Flipkart, Amazon.in, Myntra, Croma and Shopsy — it reads product details already shown on the page (such as title, price, coupon, image and the product URL) and can send that product URL to the Affiliaters service to generate your affiliate link and a ready-to-share deal message.
- Card & bank offers (Amazon). Amazon does not include card-offer details in the product page itself — not even hidden in its code — so when a conversion needs them the extension fetches Amazon's own offers page for that product in the background (a direct request, not a visible tab), reads the offer lines, and discards the rest. The request uses your normal Amazon session, targets no other page, and nothing else is read from it.
- Popup conversion on any other site. Outside the supported stores the extension adds nothing to the page — no buttons, no scripts. If you open its popup there yourself, it reads only the title and URL of the tab you are looking at, so you can convert that link too. Nothing else on the page is read, and nothing happens until you open the popup.
- Right-click convert & shortcuts (Chrome / Edge build only). You can right-click a link that points to a supported store and choose "Convert Only" or "Convert & Share", or use the extension's keyboard shortcuts on a product page. To read the product you right-clicked, the extension briefly opens that supported-store link in a background tab, extracts the details, and closes it; a system notification reports the result. The menu items appear only on links to the supported stores.
- Sharing. It lets you copy the generated deal, or (on iOS, iPadOS and macOS Safari) share it through the system Share Sheet to any app you choose. The optional Convert & Share action additionally asks your own Affiliaters account to post that one deal to the destinations you connected in your Affiliaters dashboard — one click, one deal; the extension itself sends nothing to any third-party platform and never posts without that click.
- Account connection. It links to your existing Affiliaters account so conversions use your affiliate credentials.
The extension's on-page features run only on the supported stores above; on every other website it does nothing until you open the popup, and then reads only that tab's title and URL. Apart from the Amazon offers fetch described above, it communicates only with Affiliaters' own servers.
Hosted store settings. To keep working when a retailer changes its page layout,
the extension periodically downloads a small settings file from our own server
(extension.affiliaters.in) describing where product details sit on each supported
store. That file carries data only — it is validated before use and never executed, and
all of the extension's code ships inside the package you installed. The request sends no
information about you or the pages you visit.
The store list can change; the rules cannot. We may add or remove supported stores in future versions of the extension — each such change ships as an extension update, and the live list is always visible in the extension's settings, where every store has its own switch. On each supported store the extension does exactly the same thing, with the same data and the same purposes described in this policy, so this policy applies to the store list as it stands at any time. Your browser may also ask you to approve access to a newly added store before it works. If we ever change what the extension collects or why — not just where — we will update this policy first.
3. Data we process
| Category | What it is | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account & authentication | Your Affiliaters account email and login token, obtained when you sign in to Affiliaters. | To authenticate requests so conversions are tied to your account. | Stored on your device; sent only to Affiliaters servers
(*.affiliaters.in). On iOS, iPadOS and macOS it is also copied into the
Affiliaters app's own Keychain on the same device, so the app and the
Safari extension share one sign-in. It stays on your device and is removed when you sign
out. |
| Product / page data | Product URL, title, price, coupon and image shown on a supported retail product page you visit. On any other site: only the page title and URL, and only when you open the popup. | To build the affiliate link and the deal message. | The deal message is composed on your device from these details; when you convert, that message (title, price, offer) is sent with the product URL to Affiliaters. If you enabled Image for that store, the product image URL — or the deal card generated on your device — is sent too. |
| Settings & preferences | Your message template, which retailers, buttons and images are enabled, onboarding state, and the local list of deals you converted (so you can copy one again). | To make the extension behave the way you configured it. | Stored locally on your device using the browser's extension storage. |
4. What we do not collect
- We do not collect or store your browsing history.
- We do not collect passwords, payment card numbers, or financial account details.
- We do not read the content of pages other than the product details needed on the supported retail sites — and, on any other site, the single title and URL read when you open the popup.
- We do not embed third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone.
- We do not use your data for any purpose unrelated to converting and sharing affiliate deals.
5. Permissions and why we need them
The extension requests the minimum permissions required for its single feature. Each is used only for the purpose below:
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
storage |
Save your settings, message template and login state on your device. |
activeTab + scripting |
Read the product details on the page you are actively viewing and place the "Convert Only" and "Convert & Share" buttons on the supported retail sites. On any other site, this is what lets the popup read the current tab's title and URL — and only when you open it. |
contextMenus (Chrome / Edge build only) |
Adds the "Convert Only" / "Convert & Share" items to the right-click menu, and only on links that point to the supported stores. They add nothing to the menu anywhere else. |
notifications (Chrome / Edge build only) |
A conversion started from the right-click menu or a keyboard shortcut has no window of its own, so a system notification reports its result. Notifications appear only for actions you started; the extension never sends promotional or unsolicited notifications. |
declarativeNetRequest (Chrome / Edge build only) |
Used only for the card and bank-offer fetch described in section 2: Amazon shows those offers on a separate page, so the extension requests that page in the background, and this permission sets a mobile User-Agent on that one marked request so the offer information loads. It does not modify, redirect, or observe your normal browsing. Not used in the Safari build. |
nativeMessaging (Safari build only) |
Lets the Safari extension hand your sign-in to the Affiliaters app installed alongside it on the same device, so you sign in once instead of twice. It passes only your account email and login token, only to that app, and only on your device. Not used in the Chrome / Edge build. |
Host access — the supported stores (currently Flipkart, Amazon.in, Myntra, Croma and
Shopsy) and *.affiliaters.in |
To run the convert feature on those retail sites and reach the Affiliaters API. No other site is ever accessed automatically. |
6. How data is shared
We share data only with:
- Affiliaters' own backend (
*.affiliaters.in) — to authenticate you and convert links. - Retail affiliate networks — indirectly, because the affiliate links you create route through the relevant retailer or affiliate program when someone clicks them. This is inherent to how affiliate marketing works.
We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information only if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the service.
7. Storage and retention
Settings and login state are stored on your device using the browser's extension storage. Your login token is kept only while your session is valid and is removed when you sign out or remove the extension. Data sent to Affiliaters for conversion (the product URL and deal details) is kept in your account's conversion records for as long as you keep your Affiliaters account, in line with our main privacy policy, and you can ask us to delete it at any time (section 9). You can clear all local extension data at any time by signing out or uninstalling the extension.
8. Security
Data in transit to Affiliaters servers is protected with HTTPS/TLS. Authentication uses a token scoped to your account. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. Your rights and choices
- Access or deletion: request a copy or deletion of personal data held by Affiliaters by emailing support@affiliaters.in.
- Control features: per-retailer conversion can be toggled on or off in the extension at any time.
- Local data: sign out or remove the extension to erase locally stored settings and tokens.
- Depending on where you live (for example the Indian DPDP Act, GDPR in the EEA, or UK GDPR), you may have additional rights to access, correct or restrict processing — contact us to exercise them.
10. Children
The extension is intended for affiliate marketers and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure
Our collection and use of user data adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- we only collect and use user data for the single, user-facing purpose of converting and sharing affiliate deals, as described in this policy;
- we do not transfer user data to third parties except as needed to provide that feature, for security or legal reasons, or with your consent;
- we do not use or transfer user data for advertising, ad targeting, or credit-worthiness purposes;
- we do not allow humans to read user data unless we have your consent, it is necessary for security or to comply with law, or the data has been aggregated and anonymised.
12. Apple and Safari disclosures
On iOS, iPadOS and macOS the extension runs as a Safari Web Extension. It asks your permission before accessing the retail sites listed above, and you can review or revoke that access in Safari settings at any time. The extension contains no tracking, and we do not link the data it processes to your identity for tracking across other companies' apps or websites. Sharing a deal uses the system Share Sheet, so you remain in control of where a deal is sent. If the Affiliaters app is installed on the same device, the extension passes your sign-in to it through Apple's native messaging so you only sign in once; that exchange stays on your device, is stored in the app's Keychain, and is cleared when you sign out.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy at any time as the extension evolves, and the extension's features and supported stores may themselves change, grow or be withdrawn at any time. This policy is written around what data is processed and why, so it applies to the extension as it stands whenever you use it: adding or removing a supported store does not change what we collect or why (see section 2) and does not need a new version of this document. When the kinds of data or the purposes do change, that will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
